Concrete Cure Coatings
In concrete construction, water of hydration is required for the concrete to reach its optimal strength and dimensional stability. If water loss is too rapid due to the heat of hydration and ambient conditions, the concrete will be of poor quality. To retard the rate of evaporation, the concrete surface is often treated with a special coating commonly referred to as a “Concrete Cure Coating."
The concrete industry demands low color and cost, because these are temporary coatings which are easily removed by pressure washing or simply allowed to weather away. Neutral hydrocarbon resins due to their neutrality, high water repellency and resistance to saponification have proven to be the resin of choice. These resins have the required good solubility in a wide range of low KB aliphatic solvents, such as mineral spirits. These resins are available in flakes.
